Dr. Annie Antar is an assistant professor of medicine at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.  Her areas of clinical expertise include internal medicine and infectious diseases.

Dr. Antar earned her undergraduate degree from Harvard University and her M.D. and Ph.D. degrees from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine.  She completed both her residency in internal medicine and fellowship in infectious diseases at the Johns Hopkins Hospital.

Dr. Antar's research focuses on understanding the persistence of the HIV latent reservoir - the main barrier to cure of HIV - despite suppressive antiretroviral therapy.  Her work also focuses on a subpopulation of HIV-positive people whose CD4 count does not rise appropriately despite suppressive antiretroviral therapy.
