Background

Dr. Chanmugam is a professor and a Vice-Chair of Emergency Medicine at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.  In addition, he serves as the Chair of Emergency Medicine at the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center and the Chief Medical Officer for Emergency Medicine for Johns Hopkins Medicine. 

Dr. Chanmugam is the editor of a number of textbooks and scholarly papers.  He remains actively involved in healthcare innovation and integration. 

The early part of his career was focused on medical education and developing innovative strategies for medical education.  He continues to care for patients, in addition to his roles as an administrator and educator.
