The Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine (JHUSOM) invites applications for a full-time faculty member to serve as the Director of Clinical Education (DCE) for the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program. Faculty rank within the JHUSOM and salary are commensurate with education and experience. Application reviews will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. The DCE will report directly to the Director of the DPT Program.
As a member of the founding faculty in the Johns Hopkins DPT Program, the DCE will be responsible for developing, conducting and coordinating the clinical education program. We are looking for an innovative, forward-thinking candidate to create a cutting-edge clinical education curriculum with a strong integration with the Johns Hopkins Rehabilitation Network. The Johns Hopkins DPT Program will be hybrid, with faculty and students located across the country and traveling regularly to Baltimore for in-person experiences. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills with a demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively as part of a remote/hybrid team. As a member of the core faculty, the DCE will demonstrate contemporary expertise in assigned areas of teaching and engage in scholarship and institutional/professional service.
Johns Hopkins University is seeking accreditation of a new physical therapist education program from the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE). The program is planning to submit an Application for Candidacy, which is the formal application required in the pre-accreditation stage, in June 2024.
Qualifications
Required
Earned clinical doctoral degree in physical therapy. Licensed or eligible for licensure to practice physical therapy in Maryland. Three years of full-time experience in clinical practice. Two years of clinical practice must include experience as a CCCE and/or CI, or a minimum of two years of experience in teaching, curriculum development, and/or administration in a physical therapy education program.
Preferred
Special consideration will be given to candidates with an earned terminal doctoral degree (such as PhD, EdD, DSc, etc), experience in the administration of clinical education in a physical therapy education program (e.g. DCE, Assistant DCE, etc), and/or ABPTS certification.
