Background

Dr. Howard Zacur is the Theodore and Ingrid Baramki Professor of Reproductive Endocrinology in the Johns Hopkins Medicine Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics. His areas of clinical expertise include infertility related to prolactin disorders, polycystic ovary syndrome, endometriosis and uterine fibroids. Dr. Zacur is also an expert in hormone replacement and other treatments for peri- and postmenopausal women.

Dr. Zacur received his undergraduate degree in biology from Harvard College. He earned his M.D. from the University of Miami School of Medicine and his Ph.D. in reproductive biology from the Johns Hopkins University. He completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the Johns Hopkins Hospital and went on to perform a fellowship there in reproductive endocrinology. Dr. Zacur joined the Johns Hopkins faculty in 1980.

Dr. Zacur has published more than 100 peer-reviewed research articles and several book chapters on reproductive endocrinology and infertility. Dr. Zacur is a fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecologists and a member of several scientific societies, including the Society of Reproductive Surgeons, The Endocrine Society and the American Fertility Society. He serves as a member of the editorial board for Current Opinion in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Zacur is also the recipient of the first annual J. Donald Woodruff Teaching Award.
