The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine diploma and hooding ceremony for the 2023 graduating class will be held on Wednesday, May 24, at 2:30 p.m. The event will be held at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall. We will provide updates in the coming months should changes be required based on the pandemic and any associated restrictions to in-person gatherings.

Disability Accommodations

The Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall offers the following accommodations for disabled guests:

Parking

The Symphony Center garage (1030 Park Avenue, adjacent to the Meyerhoff) has handicap parking spaces near the Park Avenue entrance. Cost is $15/car, cash only at the gate.

Seating

There are two rows dedicated to the disabled:

  • Row R will accommodate wheel chairs and has seats for companions.
  • Row S has seats on the aisles and those with walkers can also sit in that row.

Ushers can provide additional guidance.

Additional Resources for Faculty

Regalia Return

Doctoral-level regalia (hood, gown and tam) MUST be returned to the rental company. Failure to return regalia will result in the rental company charging you a $900 replacement fee.

A representative from Oak Hall will be present to collect caps and gowns after the SOM ceremony. If you are only attending the University-wide ceremony, you can return the regalia directly after that ceremony.
