Welcome to our Faculty Gateway

The mission of the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine is to educate medical students, graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows in accordance with the highest professional standards; to prepare clinicians to practice patient-centered medicine of the highest standard, and to identify and answer fundamental questions in medicine and science. The Part-Time Faculty (PTF) share in, and are integral to, the tripartite mission of teaching, research and patient care.

COVID-19 Testing: Part-Time Faculty Update

As you may know, JHM has begun the process for distributing COVID-19 vaccinations to its staff and faculty. As JHSOM part-time faculty members (and not withstanding other affiliations with JHM that you may have), and with the condition that you are also credentialled through JHM, you can access the JHM COVID-19 vaccine distribution. Please see the correspondence in the link below that was sent earlier this month with information regarding using MyChart to gain access to the vaccination selection process.

A Message From the Assistant Dean of Part-time Faculty

Appreciating and Supporting our Part-Time Faculty Colleagues

Fellow colleagues,

We greatly appreciate the work you are doing to care for our patients, students, our community and each other. We all have the same goal in mind as we deal with this pandemic, and that is to ensure that we keep you and us as safe and healthy as possible. The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and the Office of Part-Time Faculty (PTF) are staying diligent and monitoring this ever-changing situation and just as we are sure that you are receiving numerous communications from Johns Hopkins and other organizations, we will provide updates as they pertain to part-time faculty. We are looking for every way to assist part-time faculty with sharing information and resources, keeping in mind that we are all working to meet the needs of our patients and practices. We welcome you share your needs and concerns with us. Hope you all are staying safe and well.

Pillars of Our Mission

Part-time faculty may engage in the mission through the same core processes as full-time faculty. As referenced in the Blue Book, considerations for the appointment or promotion of part time faculty involves increased focus on clinical activities, teaching and service.

As discussed in the Silver Book, reputation beyond the SOM and evidence of creative scholarship in research, education, clinical distinction, program building and service are considered in the promotion process, and constitute pillars of membership in the part-time faculty.
