High Value Practice Alliance

Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions recognizes the need to improve efficiency of practice and reduce costs by reducing unnecessary practices. However, as physicians who are committed to excellence in the care of every patient, we also understand that the elimination potentially wasteful tests and procedures that have been integrated into medical practice requires data to support that patient care will not be compromised.

Accordingly, the Johns Hopkins High Value Practice Alliance was formed with the goal of engaging our students and residents in the research necessary to support the use of high-value diagnostic tests and to ensure that potentially unnecessary tests can be safely reduced in practice. Accordingly, the Johns Hopkins High Value Practice Alliance was formed with the goal of engaging our students and residents in value-related quality improvement and the outcomes research necessary to ensure the safety and quality of cost-conscious care. Reduction of unnecessary testing requires a multidisciplinary approach for both clinical and research collaboration, and as such, the High Value Practice Alliance is a team of faculty from multiple departments collaborating to implement value-related quality improvement.
