Experts at the Johns Hopkins Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Dentistry are committed to delivering the best oral health care for our patients in a outpatient hospital setting. We are able to treat the full-spectrum of oral, dental, and jaw-related conditions—from simple cavities to complex restorations of lost or damaged teeth and congenital jaw deformities.

If you have a health condition requiring hospital care, you may need to see a dentist during your hospital stay. Our general dentists and dental specialists are experienced at managing patients with serious health issues and work with your team of specialists to provide the highest level of dental care.  We offer routine care to patients at The Johns Hopkins Hospital, as well as refer patients to our specialized dental practitioners for more complex care.

Our specialized dental practitioners often provide oral health care to patients with:

  • Heart conditions
  • Organ transplants
  • Immuno-compromised health issues
  • Cancer (patients undergoing chemotherapy or radiation treatments)
  • Surgical defects due to cancer removal

We work with your physician(s) to ensure our work aids your treatment and recovery. We may recommend you have cleanings and checkups more often to maintain the health of your mouth and teeth.

 

Education General Practice Dental Residency

Johns Hopkins provides a competitive one-year general practice dental residency program. Residents can expect to learn about general dentistry, anesthesia, internal medicine, and oral & maxillofacial surgery among other relevant topics.

Our clinic at the Johns Hopkins Outpatient Center has an oral surgery suite, seven dental treatment rooms and a radiology suite, each equipped to provide quality comprehensive dental care for you and your family.
