Our Team
Our team is available from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, to answer questions. After business hours, an answering service takes urgent calls and will connect you to a provider.
Team members include registered nurses, rehabilitation therapists, pharmacists, registered respiratory therapists and social workers.

Neonatal home care includes a variety of care and rehabilitation services for medically fragile infants, spanning nursing, clinical respiratory care and equipment, apnea monitoring, infusion, enteral therapy, nutrition and monitoring of neonatal abstinence syndrome.

We offer comprehensive care for children and their families dealing with life-limiting or chronic complex conditions, including services such as pain and symptom management, skilled nursing, social work services, counseling and transition to community resources. We also work with the local hospice to provide care.

A variety of specialized equipment is provided to help improve a child’s quality of life, such as oxygen, apnea monitoring, bilevel, ventilator management, nebulizers, child-size walkers, wheelchairs, hospital beds, orthopedic equipment and other medical supplies.

Our staff is highly skilled and trained to provide services focused on the treatment of childhood cancers. We offer chemotherapy infusion, nutritional support, oxygen, pain and symptom management.

Our rehabilitation services assist children with cognitive, developmental and physical disorders. They are treated by physical therapists and occupational therapists.

This comprehensive program is customized to meet the unique needs of each child. Home environmental assessments, peak flow meters, nebulizers, mattress covers, age-appropriate education about the disease, asthma triggers and interventions are provided as indicated.

Pediatric infusion services involve clinical pharmacist consultation and skilled nursing care to assist families in administering intravenous products and medications. Therapies include but are not limited to antibiotics, anticoagulants, biologicals, blood clotting factor, catheter care, chemotherapy, enteral therapy, growth hormone, hydration, inotropic therapy, IVIG and SQIg, pain management, steroids, transplant therapies and total parenteral nutrition.

We are one of the only comprehensive pediatric home care programs in the Mid-Atlantic region. Our registered nurses, rehabilitation therapists and social work staff are pediatric specialists who work solely with children and their families in the home and in the community. Together with your pediatrician or pediatric specialist, they provide assessment, treatment, education and support.

Pediatrics at Home offers complete care services for your child. All of our services are coordinated by a nurse, who can help get you access to any of the services we offer. Whether care begins in the hospital before discharge or starts with your pediatrician in the community, coordination and navigation of all services helps us provide access to care and quality service.

Pediatric Home Care: What to Expect
For your child to become a patient of our Pediatrics at Home group, you will need a referral from the hospital or your pediatrician. Here’s what you can expect:
- Initial assessment: When we receive the referral, we consult with your provider to understand your child’s needs. We then schedule a time to meet with you—in the hospital or over the phone—to assess your child’s needs at home. We spend the time to understand your needs and follow your child’s physician orders.
- Tailored care plan: We create a personalized care plan based on your child’s health needs and goals. We will also follow up with your referring physician to make sure your child’s care is seamless.
- Patient and family caregiver support: Our team works closely with you to provide education and assistance. The goal is to help you learn to manage your child’s care on your own, when we are not there.
- Adjustments to the care plan: Our team meets regularly to review your child’s progress and adjust their care plan as needed. With our regular monitoring and thorough education, we help your child avoid hospital visits and stay safe at home.

We will contact you by phone call or text message the day before your visit. Expect to be contacted in the afternoon or evening to confirm the next day visit. Please tell us if you are not able to keep your visit. Let us know your preferred method of contact.

The parent, primary caregiver or legal guardian must be present for the first visit to sign the consent, verify insurance and provide accurate information. Future visits also require an adult to be present.

Most appointments are made during office hours of 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Nursing visits made after 6 p.m. are not common and based on physician orders and admission needs. Weekend visits are scheduled for new admissions and specific treatment requirements.

Depending on the treatment and teaching, the first admission visit is approximately two hours. The visits following are shorter, usually an hour (unless the treatment requires more time).

Visits vary from once or twice a week, to once a month. Visit frequency may change with physician orders—we will keep you informed if that happens.
