The Precision Rehabilitation Center of Excellence aims to prevent and reduce disability, improve health and enhance patient experience through innovative research into improving prediction tools, risk assessment and level of function reporting.

Cerebellar neuromodulation improves naming in post-stroke aphasia

Direct current stimulation passed through the skull has been shown to increase the efficiency of language therapy in chronic aphasia, but an optimal stimulation site has not been identified to date. In this article, the researchers investigated whether electrical stimulation of the right cerebellum can improve naming skills in chronic aphasia.

An interprofessional examination of the Johns Hopkins Mobility Goal Calculator among hospitalized postsurgical patients

Individualized mobility goals created using a goal calculator have been shown to increase patient mobility on medical nursing units, but have not been studied among postoperative patients. In this paper, the researchers examined the feasibility of an automated mobility goal calculator on a postoperative nursing unit.

    Johns Hopkins Collaboration With Fujita Health University

    The Johns Hopkins Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) fosters international relations through academic exchange and collaborative research projects. One such long-standing collaboration is with a PM&R team from Fujita Health University in Japan. For more than two decades, the institutions have been working together and sharing knowledge on neurological rehabilitation, swallowing disorders and the use of robotics in rehabilitation medicine.
