How to Apply

 

The Neurosurgery Residency program at Johns Hopkins seeks to deliver hands-on experience through rotations in neurosurgery, neurology and other areas, alongside research opportunities and patient clinical care under supervision of Dr. Henry Brem and world-renowned neurosurgical faculty members. By offering a well-rounded education, the program aims to create the new leaders of the Neurosurgery field.

 
 

How to Apply

Application must be made through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). Candidates must be registered for the match with the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP).

The deadline to submit your application for the 2023 match for a PGY-1 position beginning July 2023 is Thursday, September 29, 2022. Interviews for the 2023 match will be held virtually via Thalamus in December 2022/January 2023. Applicants selected for the interview will be notified through ERAS. Virtual interview information will be included in your interview acceptance email.

Our Clinical Facilities

The Johns Hopkins Hospital

  • 24-bed private Neurosciences Critical Care Unit (NCCU) staffed by experts in neurology, neurosurgery, and neuroanesthesiology/critical care.
  • Adult inpatient units with 58 beds, including the Brain Recovery Unit.
  • State-of-the-art adult and pediatric operating rooms, complete with an intra-operative MRI machine that provides real-time images of the brain during surgery.
  • Specialized care teams include nursing, neuroanesthesiology, neuroradiology, neuro-oncology, neurological electrophysiology, a cerebrovascular diagnostic laboratory, a neuropsychiatric service and more.

Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center

  • 14 beds dedicated to neurosciences critical care and intermediate care for neurosurgical patients after surgery and for patients with head and neck injuries, seizures and stroke.
  • Units equipped with state-of-the-art monitoring, mechanical ventilation and related intensive care support systems.
  • 15 inpatient service beds.
  • A range of advanced neurosurgical services, including microsurgery and minimally invasive surgery.
  • Specialties include brain tumors, cerebral aneurysms, arteriovenous and cavernous malformations, carotid artery stenosis, spinal disorders and other head, neck and brain conditions.
