Patient and Family Information

Patient care is at the heart of everything we do at the Johns Hopkins Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. Our first goal is to help you find the most appropriate setting and type of care for you, a relative, or a friend. Our clinical care takes the form of general and specialized inpatient units, day hospital (partial hospitalization) programs, and numerous outpatient and consultation clinics. We provide services at two locations: The Johns Hopkins Hospital and The Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center.

Specialty Areas

All of our patient services can be found under Specialty Areas - listed by particular psychiatric diagnosis (such as mood disorders, schizophrenia, substance-use disorder, or memory disorders) or by age group (such as children or geriatric patients). Contact and location information is provided with each clinical description.

Read too about psychiatric care in The Johns Hopkins Emergency Department.

Research and Resources

You can learn more about a particular psychiatrist or researcher in our faculty directory, find books written by our faculty, or look for research projects that are currently recruiting volunteer participants. A resource list of websites of outside organizations and agencies that may be useful to patients and families is provided by our social workers.
