Volunteer Services at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center

Due to COVID-19 and restrictions on visitors in the hospital and all facilities, Johns Hopkins Bayview’s Volunteer Services Program is accepting a limited number of volunteers who have been preplaced. We appreciate your interest and look forward to resuming all volunteer services activities as soon as it is safe to do so.

Johns Hopkins Bayview has a number of volunteer opportunities to meet individual interests and fill a variety of important roles, both in patient care and staff support.

Volunteer Opportunities

  • No One Dies Alone (NODA) is a program that offers companionship and support to patients who are nearing death and may not have family or friends to sit with them at the end of their life.

NODA volunteers offer respite and moral support to family and friends whose loved one is dying. They also provide the patient with dignity, respect and comfort as they near the end of their life.

NODA is administered jointly through the Department of Volunteer Services and Department of Spiritual Care and Chaplaincy.

  • The PFAC is comprised of current and former patients, care partners and community members dedicated to improving the quality of care and patient experience through patient and family-oriented policies and practices. Our goal is to promote a culture of collaboration where patients and their families have an opportunity for their voices to be heard.

  • Patient services volunteers directly impact patients and their families through a variety of programs.

Pre-placed Volunteers

Youths age 15 or older may be pre-selected for a volunteer position by having an agreement to volunteer with a specific department or in a specific role at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. They must commit to at least four hours of volunteer service per week (or a minimum of 100 hours) for no less than three months.
