Background
John Thompson, M.D., is an orthopaedic foot and ankle surgeon seeing patients in the Washington, D.C., area who treats a wide variety of orthopaedic foot and ankle issues. His expertise includes sports injuries and trauma to the foot and ankle, complex foot and ankle reconstruction for deformity and arthritis including total ankle replacements, and forefoot surgery such as bunions. He sees patients ranging in age from adolescents through the elderly.
Dr. Thompson is an assistant professor of orthopaedic surgery at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, where he completed medical school and an orthopaedic surgery residency, and served as administrative chief resident. Most recently, he completed an orthopaedic foot and ankle surgery fellowship at Medstar Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore.
Dr. Thompson’s research interests include improving the diagnosis and treatment of infections involving orthopaedic implants, degenerative conditions of the foot and ankle, and sports related injuries.
