Dr. Damarla is a specialist in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine. He is an expert in the diagnosis and management of all forms of acute respiratory failure, including asthma, pneumonia, C.O.P.D., neuromuscular diseases, and the acute respiratory distress syndrome. Research Summary

Dr. Damarla’s primary research focus is on the molecular mechanisms in the development of and recovery from the acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), a severe, life-threatening condition triggered by pneumonia, other severe infections, pancreatitis, trauma, and aspiration. One of his areas of interest is endothelial cell biology and diseases of the pulmonary vasculature with specific focus on non-canonical functions of apoptotic signaling pathways.
