Meet Dr. Emam
Background
Mohammed Emam, M.D., is a physical medicine and rehabilitation physician specializing in sports medicine, with clinic locations in the Baltimore metropolitan area. His expertise is in musculoskeletal conditions, including overuse and acute injuries and chronic conditions affecting the spine, shoulder and elbow, hip and knee, and other joints. Dr. Emam has particular interest in interventional and diagnostic musculoskeletal sonography. As an ultrasound expert, he uses this technology to help diagnose musculoskeletal conditions and determine the best treatment approach. Dr. Emam also serves as the Director of the physical medicine and rehabilitation sports medicine fellowship program.
Dr. Emam’s recent experience includes a sports medicine practice at the State University of New York (SUNY) Downstate Medical Center, where he also co-directed a sports medicine fellowship program. While at SUNY, he served as a team physician for SUNY Maritime College athletics and the Public Schools Athletic League Brooklyn high schools.
Dr. Emam has cared for professional Olympic-level athletes as well as recreational athletes. As a former competitive athlete, he understands the impact of injuries on athletes at all levels and follows an individualized treatment plan with the goal of returning patients to activities as quickly and safely as possible.
A graduate of Cairo University School of Medicine, Dr. Emam completed a residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the Montefiore Medical Center, Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York, where he also completed his sports medicine fellowship.
His research interests include musculoskeletal ultrasound and minimally invasive interventional techniques as they apply to treatment of musculoskeletal injuries.
