Background

Sina Abhari, M.D., is an assistant professor at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and a specialist in reproductive endocrinology and infertility at the Johns Hopkins Fertility Center. His interest in treating reproductive disorders began early in his career while he was still a medical student, and he finds the process of helping patients build their families to be extremely rewarding. Dr. Abhari specializes in treating infertility, recurrent pregnancy loss and reproductive endocrine disorders such as polycystic ovary syndrome, primary ovarian insufficiency and functional hypothalamic amenorrhea. He also sees patients who want to preserve their fertility for social reasons, or before having medical treatments such as chemotherapy or radiation therapy that may adversely affect fertility.

Dr. Abhari also has expertise with minimally invasive gynecological surgery, and he provides care for patients with benign gynecologic conditions and reproductive fertility conditions such as uterine fibroids, and disorders such as tubal abnormalities, uterine scars/polyps and developmental abnormalities that affect reproductive organs.

Sina Abhari completed his residency at Michigan State University/Hurley Medical Center, which was followed by a postdoctoral fellowship in reproductive endocrinology and infertility at Emory University. His research has focused on the pathophysiology of diminished ovarian reserve and clinical outcomes after transfer of frozen embryos. He has presented his work in multiple peer-reviewed journals and at national scientific and clinical meetings held by organizations including the American Society for Reproductive Medicine.

The Johns Hopkins Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics and the Michigan State University medical school have recognized Dr. Abhari on multiple occasions for his passion for tutoring medical students, residents and fellows.
