Howard County General Hospital will offer COVID-19 vaccines to residents of Howard County, expanding vaccine access to those who are underserved, vulnerable and hard to reach. This effort is being offered in collaboration with faith community partners for free. On this page you will find event information, links for pre-registration, what to expect and other related information.

Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine, open to those ages 5 and older. We will also be providing booster shots for patients 5 and older. Please bring your white vaccine card to your appointment. Spanish interpreters will be available.

What to Expect at Your Visit

• If possible, wear items that will allow the vaccinator to access your upper arm easily.
• Wear a mask that covers your nose and mouth.
• Maintain a 6 foot distance while inside and waiting in lines.
• You will receive paper or electronic version of a fact sheet that tells you more about the specific COVID-19 vaccine you receive.
• After getting the COVID-19 vaccine, you should be monitored on site for at least 15 minutes.
• A second appointment for your second dose will be scheduled on site before your departure. Instructions are available in the recovery area, and vaccine clinic staff are available if you need help making your second appointment.
• A COVID-19 vaccination card will be given that tells you which vaccine you received, the date you received it and the organization who provided the vaccination.
• Please do not come for your vaccination appointment if you feel ill. Instead, contact your healthcare provider immediately for next steps.

What to Expect AFTER Your Visit

• You may experience common side effects after getting a COVID-19 vaccine.
• It takes time for your body to build protection after any vaccination.  You are considered fully vaccinated 2 weeks after your second dose of Pfizer and Moderna.
• If for some reason you cannot keep your second appointment, please let us know as soon as you are able by calling 410- 740-7601 or email [email protected].
• Consider registering for the V-Safe After Vaccination Health Checker through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. 
• If you have medical questions or concerns following your vaccine, contact your health care provider.
