Research Summary
Dr. Stevens’ vision is to apply Precision Medicine for the benefit of acutely and critically ill patients. His research seeks to identify signatures associated with trauma, surgery, and acute conditions such as stroke, cardiac arrest, and sepsis. To achieve this, he engages with an interdisciplinary team of basic and systems neuroscientists, biomedical and computer engineers, biostatisticians, data scientists, and neuroradiologists. One area of Dr. Stevens' research examines MRI features of the brain connectome to enhance classification and prediction in patients recovering from severe brain injury. Other projects use artificial intelligence methods to analyze features captured through physiologic monitoring, EEG, genomics, and wearable sensors. The overarching aim is to decode phenotypes and increase the accuracy of classification, prediction, and therapy in acutely ill patients.
